About

Meet Joe Maron, LPC

A little about me, and what you can expect when we work together.

I’m a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor with an MS in Clinical & Counseling Psychology. I work one-on-one with adults on sexuality, relationships, ADHD, neurodivergence, and gender identity.

My eight years in this field began in harm reduction and community mental health, including three years at a methadone clinic in Philadelphia. That work taught me to start with the life someone is actually living and the changes they want to make.

I’m also neurodivergent, and I run the practice with that in mind: processing time, sensory needs, and whether the camera is on are all things we can adjust.

What it’s like to work with me

In a first session I mostly listen and ask questions, and I’ll tell you what I’m noticing as we go. If I’ve got something wrong, say so. I’d rather be corrected than guess.

After that, sessions vary. Some are for getting through a hard week. Some pick one pattern or one decision and stay with it. If you work better with an agenda, we’ll make one; if you need to think out loud for a while first, that’s fine too.

How we get started

We’ll talk about what brought you here, what you hope will change, and what has or hasn’t helped before. You can ask how I work and tell me what would make sessions easier for you.

We’ll return to your goals as we go. I want you to be able to tell me when something is helping, when it isn’t, and when we need to try something else.

Training and experience

I completed a yearlong advanced clinical training program in Affirmative Therapy for Transgender Communities at Widener University.

I’m also pursuing a PhD in Human Sexuality, Sex Therapy Track, at Widener University, and I hold the ADHD-CCSP credential. My clinical experience includes sex therapy, relationship work, ADHD and neurodivergence, LGBTQ+ concerns, and substance use.
